The World Health Organization warns that millions of people are dying every year from indoor air pollution.Nearly three billion people are unable to use clean fuels and technologies for cooking, heating and lighting.
These findings show that the use of deadly fuels in inefficient stoves, space heaters or lights is to blame for many of these deaths.
WHO officials say indoor pollution leads to early deaths from stroke, heart and lung disease, childhood pneumonia and lung cancer.Women and girls are the main victims. These diseases can often result from the burning of solid fuels. These fuels include wood, coal, animal waste, crop waste and charcoal.
The United Nations found that more than 95 percent of households in sub-Saharan Africa depend on solid fuels for cooking. It says huge populations in India, China and Latin American countries, such as Guatemala and Peru, also are at risk.
Nigel Brace is a professor of Public Health at the University of Liverpoo1.He says researchers are developing good cook-stoves and other equipment to burn fuels in a more efficient way .There are already multiple technologies available for use in clean fuels. There is really quite an effective and reasonably low-cost alcohol stove that is made by Dometic(a Sweden-based company)that is now being tested out.LPG(liquified petroleum gas)cook is obviously widely available and efforts are under way to make those efficient.Another interesting development is electric induction stoves(电磁炉).WHO experts note some new, safe and low-cost technologies that could help are already available. In India, you can bay an induction stove for about $8.00.And in Africa you can buy a solar lamp for less than$1.00.

The longer a teenager spends using electronic devices such as computers and smartphones, the worse their sleep will be,a study of nearly 10,00016-to 19-year-olds suggests.
More than two hours of screen time after school was strongly linked to both delayed and shorter sleep.Almost all the teens from Norway said they used the devices shortly before going to bed. Many said they often got less than five hours sleep a night.
The teens were asked questions about their sleep routine on weekdays and at weekends,as    well as how much screen time they clocked up outside school hours. On average, girls said they    spent around five and a half hours a day watching TV or using computers, smartphones or other    electronic devices. And boys spent slightly more time in front of a screen around six and a half hours a day,on average.Playing computer games was more popular among the boys, whereas girls were more likely to spend their time chatting online!
Any type of screen use during the day and in the hour before bedtime appeared to disturb    sleep—making it more difficult for teenagers to nod off.And the more hours they spent on these devices, the more disturbed their sleep became:When daytime screen use totalled four or more hours, teens had a 49%greater risk of taking longer than an hour to fall asleep. These teens also tended to get less than five hours of sleep per night.
Dr.Hysing said her findings had suggestions for the wider population as so many people  use these devices.“We know that sufficient sleep is essential for good physical and mental health.Logging off may be one important step toward securing a good night's sleep.”
Prof Rnssell Foster, an expert the University of Oxford, said,“This is an important study  as it provides practical evidence that the use of electronic devices before bed does indeed reduce sleep duration.”He said teenagers should be warned of this.
28.What is stressed in the first two paragraphs?
A.Teens now tend to have more problems with studies.
B.Teens get harder to fall asleep with more screen time.
C.Teens addicted to screen are likely to be more energetic.
D.Teens’sleep duration has nothing to do with their screen time.
29.By asking questions,the study finds_________________.
A.boys are more likely to chat online than girls
B.girls are more frequent on the screen than boys
C.teens are attracted by different electronic devices
D.teens use the screen for the same purpose
30.What does the phrase“nod off”in the fourth paragraph mean?
A.shut off    B.get excited    C.focus on  D.fall asleep
31.How does Prof Russell Foster feel the study?

Shoppers in the United States have many different retail stores(零售店)to choose from. You can shop at large department stores, furniture stores, jewelry stores, electronic equipment stores and many others.Another type of retail store—the catalog store, has become popular in the U.S.
Catalog stores offer much of the same goods as traditional retail stores. However, in these  stores, shoppers select the items they wish to buy from large catalogs that are filled with photos    and descriptions of all the different goods. The variety of products listed in the catalogs includes everything from baby clothing to video equipment and watches. The prices of these items are very low.In fact, the same items often cost more in other retail stores. And that's the reason many people prefer to shop in catalog stores.
When shoppers go to a catalog store, they see many brand-name products on display. If they are interested in purchasing an item, they need to follow this simple procedure.
●First, they go to a counter to find the store’s catalog.
●They look in the catalog to find the exact item they wish to buy.
●Then, they fill out an order form with the name of the item, the item number from the    catalog, the price, and their name and address.
●After completing the form, the customer gives it to a salesperson, who checks to see if the item is in stock.
If the item is available, the stockroom sends it on a conveyor belt(输送带)to the pick-up  counter. When the item arrives at the pick-up counter, the customer’s name is called, and the  customer pays for the item.
The whole procedure usually takes ten to twenty’minutes. If the item isn’t available, the salesperson can usually check the store’s computer and find out when it will be in stock again.
Catalog stores usually don’t offer all the services that regular retail stores do.They usually don't have many salespeople,so customers can’t expect to receive much assistance or attention from store employees.Customers need to know about the features and the quality of the items they wish to buy before they shop, since there isn’t much opportunity to ask questions or examine the product in the store. However, catalog stores offer quality items at lower prices, and consumers seem to appreciate this.
32.What is the difference between the traditional retail stores and the catalog stores?
A.The prices of products in catalog stores are higher.
B.Shoppers select the items they need from large catalogs.
C.Catalog Stores offer more products than the traditional stores.
D.Catalog stores usually offer all the services that regular retail stores do.
33.Which of the following is the right procedure for a shopper in a catalog store?
①Check the catalog to select the items.
②Fill out the order form.
③Wait at the pick-up counter.
④Find a catalog at a counter.
⑤Find a salesperson to cheek the form.
A.④—①—③—⑤—②     B.①—④—②—③—⑤
C.④—①—②—⑤—③  D.④—②—⑤—③—①
34.From the text we know that shopper of catalog stores______.
A.become salespeople now
B.do the same as in retail stores
C.have more chances to examine the goods
D.should know the information of the goods ahead
35.Catalog stores are popular mainly because they________
A.offer quality goods at lower prices

C.can help save much time when doing shopping
D.offer the exact items the customer wishes to purchase

As we know, enough sleep is of great importance for us senior 3 students. We can concentrate our mind in class with sufficient sleep, so we should try to make wise use of our time, striking a balance between work and leisure. Besides, doing proper exercise every day can benefit us a lot, keeping fit, reducing stress and so on. Let’s spare some time to do all kinds of sports. And only in this way can we keep a good mood and study well.
That’s all. Thank you for listening!

录音文稿
(Text 1)
M: What time is it by your watch?
W: It’s a quarter to two. But my watch is 5 minutes fast.
(Text 2)
W: I cannot find the scissors.
M: Let’s look for them later. Right now, I need your help fixing the shelf before I paint it. Then I can nail it to the wall.
(Text 3)
W: We will never forget the champions, Sun Yang and Zhang Jike.
M: In my opinion, Liu Xiang is still a hero.
W: I couldn’t agree with you more. He got the attention of the whole world.
(Text 4)
W: Mark, do you often cook for yourself?
M: Every three days, but cooking takes too much time. I often eat out.
W: So, how often do you dine out?
M: Almost every other day.
(Text 5)
W: Good afternoon. May I help you, sir?
M: I am Jack Rogers in room 8808. Mr. Smith will come for this letter while I am out. Could you hand it to him, please?
W: Certainly, sir. By the way, when will you be checking out?
M: Tomorrow morning.
(Text 6)
M: I hear a businessman is building a dog park in our city.
W: Really? What for?
M: Obviously because there’s a law against having dogs in the streets.
W: Does that mean that dogs have to stay at home all the time?
M: Sounds pretty cruel, right? Maybe a dog park is a good idea.
W: Maybe they should just allow people to walk their dogs in the streets.
M: But then the streets would be a mess.
W: Couldn’t people clean up after their dogs?
M: Would they? They just leave the mess to the street cleaners. Maybe we need more volunteers.
(Text 7)
W: Could you please give me some advice about how to keep fit?
M: I think the best way to keep in shape is to play sports.
W: What’s your favorite sport?
M: Oh, that’s hard to say. Too many. I play table tennis every day, and I play basketball and go swimming every two days. I’m also fond of Wushu. Do you like sports?
W: Oh, yes. I like watching sports programs on TV and I often go to the stadium to cheer for my favorite team.
M: It seems that you like watching them more. What sports do you usually take part in?
W: I used to go swimming a lot but not any more.
M: But I think you should do some sports. I’m going swimming today. Would you like to go with me?
W: I would love to.
(Text 8)
W: Excuse me. I just lost my handbag. I can’t find it anywhere.
M: Please have a seat. Well, what sort of handbag was it?
W: It was black and made of leather. It was made in France.
M: What was it worth? And what was inside? Can you remember?
W: Well, 700 euros, my blue cloth purse, my ID card, a book and an umbrella were inside. My handbag was quite expensive. I bought it last month and I paid 800 dollars.
M: Do you remember where you left it?
W: I’m sure I left it in the coffee shop. It was about three o’clock.
M: How can we contact you?
W: Here is my name card. You can phone me. I really hope you can help me find it.
M: I hope it will turn up. We’ll let you know as soon as we find it.
W: Thanks a lot.
(Text 9)
M: Hi, young lady. How may I help you?
W: Well, I’m looking for a gift for my father. Father’s Day is coming, you know.
M: Okay. How about getting your father a new belt?
W: Hmm, sounds good. How much is that belt?
M: Uh … which one?
W: The black one.
M: Uh. It’s only $55.95.
W: Huh? That’s too expensive for me. Do you have something cheaper?
M: Hmm. How about this brown wallet?
W: Um … I don’t think my father will like the design on the outside, and it doesn’t have a place to put pictures. How much is it, anyway?
M: It’s $35.99.
W: Hmm. I don’t have that much money.
M: Okay. How much do you have to spend?
W: I’m not sure. Probably about fifteen dollars or so. I’ve been helping my mom around the house for the past two weeks to earn some money. That’s all I have.
M: Hmm. How about this tie?
W: That’s really nice, but the price tag says $19.99, and I know I don’t have that much money. What’s more, I gave him a tie last Christmas.
M: Well, let’s say the tie just went on sale. How about $15.00?
W: Oh, in that case, I’ll take it.
(Text 10)
Young people and older people do not always agree. They sometimes have totally different ideas about living, working and playing. But in one special program in New York State, adults and teenagers live together in a friendly and peaceful environment.
Each summer, 200 teenagers and 50 adults live together for eight weeks as members of a special work group. Everyone works several hours each day. They do so not just to keep busy but to find meaning and fun in work. Some teenagers work in the forests or on the farms near the village. Some learn to make things like tables and chairs and to build little wood houses. The adults teach them these skills.
There are several free hours each day. Weekends are free, too. During the free hours some of the teenagers learn photography or drawing. Others just sit around and talk with the adults. Each teenager can choose his own way to spend his free time.
When people live together, they should have rules. In this program the teenagers and the adults make the rules together.
